Katsushika Hokusai (葛飾 北斎; c. 31 October 1760 – 10 May 1849) was a Japanese ukiyo-e artist of the Edo period, active as a painter and printmaker. His woodblock print series.
Katsushika Hokusai created several significant dragon artworks in his later years, most notably “Dragon Flying Over Mount Fuji” (also known as “The Dragon of Smoke Escaping from Mount Fuji”), which is widely accepted as his final masterpiece painted in January 1849, just three months before his death.
